The Fisherman's Wharf was interesting with the nicely decorated houses people live in and the lovely hot donuts we ate there. We enjoyed walking around the downtown, having lunch at the Irish Times, walking through the Empress Hotel, and taking a water taxi to Milestones for our dinner. I wish that I could have visited longer and see Emily Carr's house but it was closed at the time. Victoria is a lovely city and James Bay Village is quaint and my favourite place to walk.

Beautiful city with many places within walking distance.
Beautiful city with many places within walking distance. Don't miss Butchart Gardesn, Fisherman's warf and the parliament building at night. we had two dogs so meals at fishermans warf were the best and most accomodating. Our stay was too short but it gave us enough ideas for a longer return trip.
totally worth it!
The whole experience was exceptional. Cindy sent us messages beforehand providing us with all the information we required. Johnny greeted us when we arrived. The room felt more like a home and the bed was super comfy. The location is minutes away from downtown with the Parliament buildings, BC museum and the harbour all on your doorstep. If you are looking for something more than a bog standard hotel Robert Porter House Inn is the place for you.
The unit was very nice, facilities were great. The place has all the usual appliances that we needed to prepare our meals. Microwave oven, 4-burner stovetop, dishwasher, fridge, freezer . . . . I would highly recommend the unit to a family or someone looking to stay in downtown Victoria. Be it a few days or a few weeks. Very accessible and in close proximity to a lot of the important downtown attractions.
i have lived in victoria for 20 years and know this property well ,if you want to go downtown its 15 mins in a car or taxi, the hosts are great the bedrooms more than adequate ,better than staying in a downtown hotels,i will now forget the downtown hotels with cramped rooms and little views ,this is the best way to see all of downtown out of your bedroom window .
Your staff are the best thing in a city where everyone is working so hard to provide the best service.
The location is great as I presume that this hotel is largely responsible for the development and growth of Victoria
You set a very high standard and the whole town has your hotel to thank and responsible for how this town has become the best of Canada
Exceptionally clean, stayed in a dog-friendly room on the ground floor. Great location for inner harbour and main tourist attractions in downtown Victoria. Staff extremely helpful. The hotel has a lovely old-world atmosphere ( wood panelling, original features) Good secure underground parking
The hotel is located in a very good location within walking distance from attractions like the Royal BC Museum, Beacon Hill Park, and the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. Also, the hotel is very near to downtown Victoria which has a number of good restaurants and cafes.
The king sized bed surpassed our expectations. The location of the hotel was ideal for walking around downtown Victoria and James Bay. It was close to lots of different restaurants and activities. The overall cleanliness and amenities were really good for a hotel of this age.
The restaurant in the hotel was honestly the best dinner I had ever had in my life. My boyfriend also loved the bidet in the suite. The location and view was perfect and walking distance to everything downtown but far enough away that it wasn’t busy or loud!
Very friendly service! Building is older but rooms are completely renovated and super clean. Location is close to downtown Victoria.
Although there's no vending machine, you could find bottled water and pop etc in the liquor store attached to the hotel.
Clean, spacious rooms; free parking; good rate; good location; free breakfast; small kitchenette. We have stayed in various downtown hotels, and for the combination of the above amenities we found it the best. Would stay there again.
Everything you need for a "stay at home" visit to Victoria, great bar for evening drinks, easy walking distance to downtown area, beautiful evening view of Parliament building from our 7th floor window, very comfortable bed.
.
This is a great hotel, right in downtown Victoria, close to inner harbour with all the attractions, as well as all major bus routes! The rooms are spacious, staff is very helpful! Great value for money!
Lovely old hotel in the oldest part of Victoria allows you to really experience the history and ambience of this prettiest city in Canada. Staff are great and the restaurant and pub excellent.
The hotel staff were wonderful. Our suite on the 3rd floor was large, quiet, clean & comfortable. The location was great for exploring the city of Victoria. We enjoyed the balcony.
